Springtime is Primetime for Liposuction.

Ready for Bikini Season

Springtime is Primetime for Liposuction.  Not a weight loss method or cellulite cure; healthy adults with fat deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise, may find liposuction an effective way to sculpt the body.

How do you ensure the expected results from your procedure?

Immediately following your Liposuction procedure apply Sculptures Surgical Grade Liposuction Foam to improve compression distribution.  Our foam can be cut to your desired shape and size, and then easily inserted between sterile dressing and compression garment.  Our super soft foam is lightweight, breathable and ultra-absorbent. Packaged with UV-protected bags for longer shelf life.SC-320insert (2)

The benefits are:

  • Less waviness in the skin surface – Free fat cells are thought to be redistributed evenly by the pressure of the foam plus the pressure garment. The result is a smoother skin surface with less waviness.
  • A more comfortable recovery – Sculptures Liposuction Foam is also comfortable under the compression garment and there is less immediate postoperative tenderness.
  • The combination reduces swelling and bruising dramatically. A bruise occurs when red blood cells leak out of blood vessels and move toward the skin surface. The application of foam directly onto skin beneath a compression garment, tightly compresses the skin’s collagen fibers and aids in healing of the vacated area by minimizing the movement of red blood cells from the liposuction wound toward the surface of the skin.SC-810

How can patients accelerate healing and obtain better results following breast surgery?

Surgical Bra: A surgical bra designed for your specific cosmetic procedure is an essential part of ensuring the results you and your Doctor planned.  Each bra provides proper support to the surgical areas for enhanced comfort while it helps the skin conform to your new contours. Further, a surgical bra can help prevent the ‘throbbing” sensation, experienced by some after surgery. The garment may also help reduce tension at incision site, preventing stretching and exaggerated scaring.

T_440COLORSCold & Hot Breast Compress:  Use Reusable CDI hot/cold 6” round gel packs as a pair, for both cold and hot therapy to help in reducing post-operative swelling and bruising. Applying cold therapy immediately following surgical procedures soothes as it numbs the nerves, reducing pain sensation. Cold therapy is found to reduce swelling by constricting the capillary vessels hence slowing blood flow.  Cold helps slow fluid buildup at the incision site, minimizing the risk of hematoma formation.

Later, heat therapy is beneficial in managing post-op bruising by – stimulating tissue and blood flow, breaking down bruising discoloration. Heat therapy comforts recovering skin and muscle tissues, reducing aches and pains. This reusable Cold/Hot Breast Compress provides hours of relief.

arnica montana 12xArnica Montana: Made from herbs grown in the Swiss Alps, Homeopathic Arnica Montana, has been used by doctors for hundreds of years. Looking Your Best For The Holidays

Cold therapy for injectable treatments

Cold therapy for injectable treatments

October is here and the holidays are right around the corner. Seasonal parties and family get togethers will require you to look your best.  With all you have on your to-do list it, you may think it hard to find the time needed to pamper yourself and be all-that-you-can-be.  With today’s technology, it’s easier than you think.  The answer: Injectable Treatments.

Look younger, more rested, glowing…in just minutes. Botox or Dysport can be called on to smooth out those little fine lines or  wrinkles.   Juvederm, Radiesse, and other “fillers” are ideal for erasing or eliminating wrinkles, giving some “plump” to sagging skin, or addressing under eye circles, bags or hollows.  Affordable combo-treatments can prove effective, almost a “liquid facelift”…with no down time.  Typically in less than 15 minutes, these non-surgical procedures can produce results that are visible immediately and last for months.  The Chill-O Soft-sided Gel Pack is ideal for  cold therapy applications,  after injections, minimizing swelling and bruising.  Give yourself an early present; be holiday-ready in no time!

Does Arnica Montana prevent bruising, post surgery?

arnica montana 12xThe best way to prevent bruising after surgery is with good surgical technique ie. stop the bleeding so there is no bruising.

For centuries, Arnica Montana, a mountain daisy, has been a part of botanical medicine, known for its vulnerary action.

What is a vulnerary? A vulnerary is a herbal remedy which helps bring about healing in wounds and inflammation.

Helenalin, the plant’s main active component, interferes with the regulation of genes coding for many inflammatory mediators at a very low cytosol concentration. Swelling and pain from inflammation are, thereby, reduced. Among other components, polysaccharides stimulate phagocytosis and reduce bruising.  Doctors and pharmacists recommend it in more than 25 countries throughout the world. Generations of athletes, trainers and parents have long enjoyed the relief Arnica Montana provides.

Despite it’s long history there are few good clinical studies on the use of this homeopathic herb, for minimizing swelling and bruising with surgery. Although it is hard to make a strong case for using it based on science, there is evidence that it is a useful homeopathic and herbal remedy. The use of Anica Montana to decrease bruising and swelling and thus improve post surgical results; is a discussion you must have with your surgeon and anesthesiologist. Using Arnica Montana or any herbal supplement must be disclosed.  DO NOT hide the use of any herbal supplements.

Your eyes, windows to aging?

chillo

In the 1950’s the free radical theory of aging (FRTA) was discovered. It states that organisms age because cells accumulate free radical damage over time. Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons and can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules. These in turn can start a chain reaction, interacting, and disrupting cellular components such as DNA, or the cell membrane. Following this, cells may function poorly or die.
To prevent free radical damage, the body has a defense system of antioxidants.  Antioxidants are molecules which can safely interact with free radicals and terminate the chain reaction before vital molecules are damaged.  The principle micronutrient (vitamin) antioxidants are vitamin E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C.
In your 20’s and 30’s you see little effects of aging, but free radicals are at work. The eyes are often the first age related area of complaint on the face. They break down and damage skin around the eyes; causing loss of collagen and elastin.
Protecting the skin around the eyes early on can prevent damage later. Eat right. Get enough sleep. Develop an effective beauty routine; including make-up removal and Eye cream, night and day. Limit sun exposure; use SPF sunscreen and sunglasses for UV rays. Use cold therapy for dry eyes, headaches or sinuses, and puffy eyes. Have your eyesight tested regularly, to avoid squinting, which can cause fine lines and crows feet.
Eyes age at different rates, due to genetics, bone structure, skin quality and the effects of the sun.
Cosmetic surgery may be the ultimate solution to addressing signs of aging around the eyes. Options include:
Blepharoplasty of the Lower Lids: Eliminates drooping Basset-hound eyes. Wrinkled crepe like skin under the eyes is pulled up and cut off, stitched along the line of the lower lashes and directly below the pink part or conjunctiva.
Blepharoplasty of the Upper Lids: Drooping Hooded Eyelids. Incision made in the fold of the lid, excess fat or skin is removed, tiny stitches to close incision.
Conclusion:
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

How do you reduce bruising after liposuction?

SC-810Used in conjunction with your compression garment, Sculptures Liposuction Foam are positioned over the liposuction treated areas to evenly distribute the pressure and minimize folds or creases. It is ideal for arms, chins, abdomen, thighs or any area where uniform healing is necessary.

  • Less blood loss and ecchymoses – The use of the Sculptures liposuction foam, in conjunction with the garment, results in less postoperative bleeding and bruising. In turn, there is a decrease in the amount of postoperative fall in hematocrit. With less of a drop in hematocrit and hemoglobin, there is also less postoperative anemia. The mechanism involved in the reduction in blood loss is thought to be a combination of overcoming capillary pressure and stabilization of the skin and subsurface blood vessels.

The combination reduces swelling and bruising dramatically.  A bruise occurs when red blood cells leak out of blood vessels and move toward the skin surface. The application of foam directly onto skin beneath a compression garment, tightly compresses the skin’s collagen fibers and prevents bruising by minimizing the movement of red blood cells from the liposuction wound toward the surface of the skin.
